Michael Jordan is the greatest player and scorer the game of Basketball has ever known. However, there is a growing myth that MJ was a bad shooter from deep. Let’s take a look and see how truthful that is. MJ for his career shot 32.7% from deep. At face value, this is very mediocre at best. But looking at his career 3pt percentage to determine how good of a shooter he was is flawed. Kobe Bryant was Inefficient?

Kobe Bryant is and was one of the Pantheon Greats in the Game of basketball. A Top 3 player ever in my opinion. But one of the “knocks” on his career is that Kobe just wasn’t an efficient Scorer. People throw out meaningless career FG% and things of that nature to try to discredit Kobe and to make him seem ineffective. But how true is that actually? Kobe Bryant for his career shot 44.7% from the field on 19.5 shots per game. He shot 33% from three on 4.1 attempts per game and he shot 83.7% from the line on 7.4 attempts throughout his career. At face value, his FG% seems very mediocre and underwhelming. The same can be said about his three point percentage. And because of this, haters of Kobe use those to slight and discredit him. But they never bring up the context behind the numbers. For one, Kobe in his last three seasons, was battling through many injuries. Once again..... Michael Jordan is and was the Best player in the history of Basketball. Or Greatest, whichever you prefer. When you’re the Best ever at basketball, people will search hard for things to nitpick or discredit you, in order to make the case that another player was better than you. And in Michael’s case, people have said numerous times that the competition he faced was mediocre, or lackluster. But is there any merit to these claims?
